Ivy Road Studio Shuts Down After Wanderstop Release
Development studio Ivy Road has announced it will cease operations on March 31, marking the end of its journey in the gaming industry. The company, known for creating the critically acclaimed cozy game Wanderstop published by Annapurna Interactive, has struggled to secure funding for its next project.
Despite positive reception and critical praise for Wanderstop, the game failed to generate sufficient revenue to support the studio during the development of its upcoming title, Engine Angel. The team revealed they were unable to secure a funding and publishing deal for their new project, leading to the studio's closure.
This financial challenge first became apparent in January when Ivy Road reduced its workforce by laying off five team members. The studio's inability to attract investors has proven to be an insurmountable obstacle in continuing operations.
Before closing its doors, Ivy Road plans to deliver one final surprise that will help introduce Wanderstop to new audiences. While specific details remain under wraps, Annapurna Interactive has promised to share more information about this initiative in the coming weeks.
Wanderstop, which centers on former fighter Alta managing a tea shop in a magical forest, will remain available for purchase and play even after the studio shuts down. The game offers players the chance to gather ingredients, craft tea, maintain the shop, interact with customers, and enjoy peaceful moments of relaxation.
